Hey! I’m Emily, the creator behind Calico Skies Studio.

I never expected to find myself creating jewelry while being a mom and wife, and working a corporate job! But I’m a fond believer that you have one life to live so live it like you want to.  So I do…and I be… :)

Looking back, the love for shells started a long time ago. My grandfather was an incredible fisherman, but he was also a craftsman who spent hours creating art with shells while living in the Bahamas.  Growing up, I was always surrounded by his work - the shell sculptures mimicking flowers and faces, or the soap dish made out of shells. At the time, I didn’t realize how much those little moments would stick with me until now.

Years later, after an incredible shelling tour (which I had no idea these existed!!!), some power tools by my side, and a bit of creativity, I found myself with a fun new hobby that quickly turned into a true passion.

Calico Skies Studio is a reflection of the ocean and incredible skies, it’s also a reflection of family memories, and finding beauty in the little things in life. I hope you love these pieces as much as I love making them.

I always tell my sons…art is how you see it. I just happen to see it through shells and a Dremel :)
